In a strategic move to tackle traffic congestion and enhance accessibility, Nainital’s focus is now on widening roads in Number Sarovar City, Haldwani. The comprehensive plan involves clearing encroachments along the roadsides and expanding intersections to improve traffic flow and ease congestion, with particular emphasis on broadening crucial junctions.

Initiative to Alleviate Traffic Woes:
With the decision to initially widen seven intersections, the objective is to decongest the city’s entry points and ensure smoother traffic movement. The move responds to the escalating pressure from tourist vehicles, which often leads to frequent traffic snarls.

Targeting Key Intersections:
The district administration’s plan aims to widen major intersections, recognizing the challenges posed by the continuous influx of tourists. The approved project, valued at INR 5.49 crores, underscores the government’s commitment to address the growing demands on the city’s infrastructure.

On-Site Inspection Sets the Stage:
Principal Secretary Pankaj Upadhyay, accompanied by officials from executing agencies and the engineering department, conducted a thorough inspection of the major intersections in the city on Wednesday. This on-site evaluation marks the commencement of the planned road-widening initiative to enhance Nainital’s traffic management.
