Uttarakhand News: During the “Meritorious Student Award” program, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted the government’s initiatives aimed at modernizing and streamlining the state’s education system. The CM announced several measures to improve access to education for students across the state.
He shared that students from Class 1 to 12 are being provided with free textbooks, with additional supplies such as shoes and bags being given to students in Classes 1 to 8. Further, under the Chief Minister’s “Meritorious Student Incentive” scheme, thousands of high-performing students will receive monthly scholarships to support their education.
Additionally, CM Dhami mentioned that girls entering Class 9 are being given bicycles to ensure ease of commuting to school, further promoting girls’ education in the state. These steps are part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance the quality of education and ensure better resources for all students.
Free Textbooks and Supplies for All Students
Chief Minister Dhami emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that no student is deprived of education due to a lack of resources. To this end, students from Class 1 to Class 12 are being provided with free textbooks. Furthermore, students in Classes 1 to 8 are receiving essential school supplies, including shoes and bags. This initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on families and create a conducive learning environment for young students.
Scholarships for Meritorious Students
The “Meritorious Student Incentive” scheme is a cornerstone of the state’s education reforms. Thousands of top-performing students will receive monthly scholarships to motivate them to continue excelling in their studies. The Chief Minister emphasized that this scheme is aimed at recognizing the hard work and dedication of Uttarakhand’s brightest students, encouraging them to strive for greater academic success.
Promoting Girls’ Education with Bicycles
In a bid to boost girls’ education and reduce dropout rates, the government is providing bicycles to girls entering Class 9. This initiative is expected to improve attendance and help girls from rural areas access schools more easily. CM Dhami underlined that the government is determined to remove any barriers to education, especially for girls, and ensure they have the tools they need to succeed.
