Uttarakhand News: In a significant development for government employees in Uttarakhand, the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has unveiled plans to provide bonuses to its workforce ahead of the Diwali festival. This move is set to benefit approximately 1.40 lakh government employees in the state.

Uttarakhand Government Announces Diwali Bonus for Employees

The Finance Department has initiated the necessary procedures to facilitate this bonus disbursement. Traditionally, the Uttarakhand government provides a bonus of Rs 7,000 to employees on the occasion of Diwali, primarily for those falling within the grade pay of 4800 or lower. As Diwali is scheduled for the second week of November, employees eagerly await this additional remuneration. It is anticipated that the bonuses will be paid out during the first week of November.

However, this move will place a financial burden of roughly Rs 100 crore on the state government. It is a significant expenditure commitment, reflective of the government’s dedication to acknowledging and supporting its employees during the festive season.

Government employees have also begun to advocate for a four percent dearness allowance

Notably, government employees have also begun to advocate for a four percent dearness allowance, influenced by the Central Government’s recent decision to grant central employees the same benefit from July to December. This highlights the evolving dynamics surrounding employee compensation and the public sector’s commitment to recognizing and addressing the financial needs of its workforce.
