Uttarakhand News: The Uttarakhand High Court has extended its prohibition on private buses operating on routes exclusively designated for the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC). This decision comes in response to a petition filed by the Uttarakhand Roadways Employees Union, which sought to prevent private buses from encroaching onto these specified routes.

Ashok Choudhary, the union’s general secretary, expressed dismay over the State Transport Authority’s (STA) decision to open UTC bus routes to private buses shortly before the implementation of the model code of conduct preceding the elections. He raised concerns about the STA’s actions, highlighting that permission from the Uttar Pradesh government is also necessary for private buses to operate on these routes.
