Uttarakhand News- In a first-of-its-kind initiative by any state tourism department, Uttarakhand has launched a state-sponsored homestay booking portal, http://uttarastays.com. This portal aims to streamline the booking process for homestays, providing a seamless experience for tourists while promoting local homestay businesses.
A Three-Pronged Strategy for Homestay Development
Secretary of Tourism and Chief Executive Officer of Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, Mr. Sachin Kurve, announced that this initiative is part of a comprehensive three-dimensional strategy. This strategy includes:
- Subsidy Assistance: Providing financial aid to support the development of homestay infrastructure.
- Skill Training: Offering training programs to homestay owners to enhance their hospitality skills.
- Online Booking Portal: Facilitating easy and transparent booking through the newly launched portal.
Mr. Kurve also invited all homestay owners to register their properties on the portal, emphasizing that users can rate their stay experiences, providing valuable feedback for continuous service improvement.
Future Plans for Wellness Integration
In addition to the current features, there are future plans to integrate homestays with wellness centers across various regions. This integration will offer tourists services such as yoga, naturopathy, Panchakarma, and Ayurvedic massages, enhancing the overall tourist experience in Uttarakhand.
Support from State Leadership
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami endorsed the initiative, stating, “The homestay scheme is an effective medium to promote tourism in the state. The launch of this booking portal will strengthen the economy of homestay operators and provide accurate information to the public, making online booking convenient.”
Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj added, “This online portal is an additional dimension by the tourism department to promote homestays. Homestay owners can provide information and sign agreements to register their homestays for bookings on this portal.”
