Uttarakhand News: In a significant development, Uttarakhand Health Minister Dhan Singh Rawat declared that all hospitals, regardless of their size, must treat patients under the Atal Ayushman Scheme if they wish to operate in the state. The minister emphasized the mandatory nature of this directive during the ongoing budget session. He revealed that an official circular would soon be issued to formalize this decision following a meeting with concerned stakeholders.
Focus on Cancer Treatment Costs
Responding to queries from Congress MLA Virendra Kumar regarding cancer patients and the associated high treatment costs, Minister Rawat shared crucial statistics. He stated that Uttarakhand currently has 12,017 cancer patients, out of which 62,866 individuals have received free treatment, incurring an expense of Rs 166 crore. The health minister expressed willingness to explore the possibility of increasing the medical treatment amount for cancer patients under the Atal Ayushman Yojna, underscoring the government’s commitment to addressing healthcare challenges in the state.
