Uttarakhand News: In a significant development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for approximately 2,000 railway infrastructure projects worth over Rs 41,000 crore through a video conference on Monday. As part of this initiative, three railway stations in Uttarakhand—Kotdwar, Kashipur, and Tanakpur—have been earmarked for redevelopment by the Union government.
State-of-the-Art Facilities for Uttarakhand
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed enthusiasm about the railway redevelopment projects, emphasizing that they would bring state-of-the-art facilities to Uttarakhand and enhance rail connectivity in the region. The redevelopment is expected to elevate the overall travel experience for residents and visitors alike.
Transformation of Rail Network
Dhami highlighted the positive changes in the Indian Railways, citing the elimination of unmanned rail crossings on broad gauge railway lines for enhanced safety and an increase in train speeds for faster connectivity. He acknowledged the significant progress made in connecting remote parts of the country to the rail network.
Progress on Rishikesh-Karnprayag Railway Line
The Chief Minister commended the foresight and vision of Prime Minister Modi, noting that over 50 percent of the work on the Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line has been completed. This accomplishment reflects the commitment to expanding rail infrastructure in the region, particularly in hilly terrains.
The inauguration of these railway redevelopment projects aligns with the government’s larger vision of modernizing and improving the country’s rail network, fostering economic development, and enhancing connectivity across various regions.
