The Uttarakhand Transport Department is taking steps to enhance enforcement efforts and ensure the safety of its personnel by deploying motorcycle teams equipped with body cameras at 11 strategic locations across the state.
In the initial phase of implementation, 26 senior enforcement supervisors will lead 26 motorcycle teams. Each team will be equipped with body cameras discreetly positioned near the shoulder of the enforcement personnel’s shirts. These cameras will capture all interactions between personnel and citizens, recording both audio and video. This technological advancement aims to promote transparency and accountability during enforcement activities.
AK Jha, ARTO administration in Kashipur, said, “One of the standout features of these body cameras is their ability to connect directly to the control room through GPS and GPRS, ensuring real-time monitoring and data transmission. Importantly, these recordings are tamper-proof, guaranteeing the integrity of the captured footage. The body GPS and infra razor audio-video cameras have been procured at the headquarters level.”
