Due to continuous heavy rains in the mountainous areas, the water level of Ganga has increased a lot. Ganga is flowing one meter above the danger mark in Rishikesh. The danger mark in Rishikesh is at 340.50 metres, while the water level of Ganga has crossed 341.30 metres. This level is the highest flood level ever recorded in Rishikesh.
According to Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center, an orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rains in Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Haridwar, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar.
Ganga’s water level has reached high flood level
This level is the highest flood level ever recorded in Rishikesh. Ganga had touched this level during the 2013 disaster. Still the water level of Ganga continues to rise. According to the Central Water Commission, now there has been a slight decrease in the water level in Devprayag, due to which the water level in Rishikesh is expected to decrease after the next 3000 hours.
Power generation stalled at Sheela hydropower plant
On the other hand, the gate of the barrage reservoir is being opened and passed, due to which the production in the Sheela hydro power house has come to a standstill. From 8:00 am to 8:00 am last night, 419.0 mm of rain has been recorded in Rishikesh. Four days ago, a record 435.2 mm of rain was recorded in Rishikesh in 12 hours.
