Uttarakhand Weather Update: According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is expected in ten districts of Uttarakhand today, prompting the issuance of an orange alert. Other districts may also experience heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
Uttarakhand Weather Forecast for July 30, 2024
The onset of the monsoon has brought continuous heavy rain from Garhwal to Kumaon in Uttarakhand. The relentless rainfall has caused severe landslides in the hilly areas, leading to significant destruction. Rivers and streams in the state are in spate, further exacerbating the situation. Landslides have led to the closure of 131 roads in various locations, with Pithoragarh and Chamoli districts being the most affected. The water level of the Tehri Dam has reached 791.91 meters due to the heavy rainfall. The Char Dham Yatra routes have also been disrupted by landslides, causing difficulties for pilgrims and trapping both locals and travelers.
Today’s Weather Update
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall for the next two days. Consequently, an orange alert has been issued for several districts, including Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Haridwar, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Almora, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar. The department has urged people to remain vigilant. Over the next 2 to 3 days, heavy rainfall is expected across both hilly and plain regions. Rainfall intensity is expected to decrease in August.
Temperature Report from the Previous Day
On Monday, Dehradun recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.0 degrees Celsius. Pantnagar reported a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 17.3 degrees Celsius. Mukteshwar saw a maximum temperature of 22.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 17.0 degrees Celsius. In New Tehri, the maximum temperature was recorded at 26.4 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 18.7 degrees Celsius.
