Uttarakhand Weather Update: Uttarakhand Braces for Monsoon and Kanwar Yatra

Uttarakhand Weather Update: With the monsoon now in full swing, Uttarakhand has been experiencing heavy rainfall across various regions. According to the Meteorological Department, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar recorded up to 12 cm of rainfall in a single day. This monsoon season coincides with the commencement of the Kanwar Yatra on July 22, which will see pilgrims from different parts of Uttarakhand participate in the sacred journey.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Ensures Preparedness for Kanwar Yatra

Amidst the ongoing rains, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is taking proactive measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the Kanwar Yatra. He held a review meeting yesterday to assess the preparations and sanctioned the necessary funds to facilitate the pilgrimage under the supervision of officials.

Challenges of Conducting Kanwar Yatra During the Monsoon

The continuous rainfall, driven by an active monsoon, presents significant challenges for the state government in organizing the Kanwar Yatra. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that the rain will persist from August through the early weeks of September. Despite this, the state government is committed to managing the pilgrimage, which begins on July 22.

In the review meeting, Chief Minister Dhami issued crucial directives to the officials and allocated funds for the yatra. “To ensure the orderly execution of Kanwar Yatra 2024, a sum of Rs. 3 crore has been approved,” stated CM Dhami. “This amount is sanctioned in response to the requirements of various departments for Kanwar Yatra 2024 arrangements and has been allocated to the District Magistrate of Haridwar.”

The Uttarakhand government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that despite the adverse weather conditions, the Kanwar Yatra proceeds smoothly and safely, providing the necessary infrastructure and support for the pilgrims.
