Uttarakhand Weather Update: For the upcoming four days, a respite from the persistent rain seems unlikely, as several districts within the state are poised to experience varying degrees of rainfall. The weather forecast indicates the potential for light to heavy rainfall in eight districts. Unfortunately, this prolonged wet spell has been causing disruptions due to continuous downpours across Uttarakhand. The inclement weather conditions are anticipated to persist in most districts until August 27.
According to the Meteorological Department, a glimmer of hope emerges after August 27, as the monsoon’s intensity is expected to diminish. This could bring a much-needed relief from the relentless rain that has been affecting the region.
Rain expected till 27 August
Presently, a state of heavy rainfall prevails across many parts of Uttarakhand, with this trend projected to persist until August 27. The Meteorological Department has raised an orange alert for Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, and Bageshwar. This alert signifies the potential for significant precipitation, with Thursday specifically earmarked for the possibility of heavy rainfall in select areas of these districts. Residents should also be cautious as lightning and thunder could accompany the heavy to very heavy rainfall episodes.
A yellow alert has been issued for these three days
As the calendar progresses to August 25, 26, and 27, the situation may see a slight change, with lighter rainfall expected across most districts. A yellow alert has been issued for these three days, indicating the need to stay vigilant against moderate rainfall.
Bikram Singh, the director of the Meteorological Department, explained that the continuous rainfall is attributed to a trough line that is currently drawing moisture from the Arabian Sea, maintaining the rainy conditions. There is a possibility that this trough line might shift in the next four days, which could potentially offer some relief from the incessant rain.
