Uttarkashi Tunnel Collapse: Everyone from leaders to common people, from Dehradun to Delhi, is concerned about the safe evacuation of 41 labourers who are stuck in Uttarkashi‘s Silkyara tunnel. To drill in the tunnel, an auger machine was shipped there from Delhi. The purpose of this auger machine is to excavate debris. This auger machine weighs about twenty-five tonnes. In an hour, this auger machine can remove debris up to five metres deep.
American-Made Innovation
This auger machine, made in the United States, costs Rs 45 lakh. This machine’s manufacturing is also carried out in India. Small augers, however, are produced in India. Around 4 p.m. on the day of Diwali, a landslip occurred inside the tunnel just as the workers were ready to leave after finishing their shift work. 41 workers are stranded in the tunnel as a result.
Delhi’s Urgent Appeal
Delhi has requested the use of an auger machine to remove this debris. This auger machine weighs approximately twenty-five tonnes. In about an hour, it can remove debris up to five metres in height. One kind of equipment with a curved shape is the auger machine. which is employed when excavating metal, hard surfaces, and ground. It can pierce through even the hardest debris and structures because of how strong and sharp its blades are.
