On the Lucknow-Gorakhpur highway in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, a passenger bus collided with a truck, resulting in seven deaths and more than 40 injuries.
After striking the truck, the bus tipped sideways and fell under a loaded goods carrier, according to authorities.
When the private bus from Ayodhya attempted to make a turn on the highway to head towards Ambedkarnagar, an accident occurred late on Friday night. Seven persons were killed and nearly 40 others were hurt when the bus and the truck collided as they were travelling from opposing directions.
Soon after the tragedy, the local government started a rescue effort.
“Around 12 people have been sent to the hospital. 5 have been sent to the district hospital and 7 to a medical college. Some casualties also occurred. The rescue operation has been completed, said Ayodhya District Magistrate, Nitish Kumar, reported ANI.
CM YOGI EXPRESSES GRIEF
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, expressed grief for the deaths caused by the horrible incident, according to a tweet in Hindi from his office.
“UP CM Yogi has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the road accident in Ayodhya district. CM has expressed condolences to the bereaved family members and also directed the officials of the district administration to take the injured to the hospital immediately and provide them with proper treatment and speed up the relief work. Also, wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.” (sic), CMO tweeted.
Additionally, CM Yogi gave the district administration instructions to transport the injured to a hospital where they would receive the necessary care.
