Ghaziabad: According to sources, the Ghaziabad administration has completed the voting registration list for the upcoming local body elections in Uttar Pradesh. Nine local bodies, including the Ghaziabad municipal corporation, will hold civic body elections soon, with a total of 249,911 new voters exercising their right to vote.
According to officials, the list has been updated through November 19; however, names may still be added or removed up until the announcement of the polling dates. Election results could be published by the end of the current year, according to sources.
“The voters’ list has been finalised for the local body elections and further addition/deletion of names can be done till the announcement of the election schedule. The voters’ list has been finalised for the nine local bodies in the district,” said Ritu Suhas, additional district election officer and nodal officer for local bodies.
Total 249,911 voters added from previous elections held in 2017
Official statistics show that 249,911 additional voters have registered since the 2017 elections. This number comprises 146,357 brand-new electors who will cast ballots for the mayor and council positions in the Ghaziabad municipal corporation.
The local bodies include of the nagar panchayats of Dasna, Patla, Niwari, and Farid Nagar as well as the nagar palikas of Loni, Modinagar, Muradnagar, and Khoda.

Of the 294 wards split over the nine local bodies, the Ghaziabad municipal corporation has the most, at 100.
The overall electorate for the local body elections in 2017 was 2,276,890, and it is now 2,526,801 for the current year.
The officials have already decided on the reservation status for the 100 wards of the municipal corporation and have submitted the proposed list to the state administration for approval. According to reports, the reservation status for the position of corporation mayor is anticipated to be revealed in the next several days.
