Many have called for justice in light of this horrific tragedy, which has garnered a lot of attention.
Notably, Sunil’s wife, Poonam, had previously filed a harassment case against a local resident, Chandan Verma, which was noted under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The events leading up to the family’s terrible demise are called into doubt by this earlier complaint.
Post Mortem Findings in the Amethi Murder Case
Talking to the news agency ANI, Anshuman Singh, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Amethi, provided details about the post-mortem findings. He stated, “In the post mortem findings, one bullet was recovered from Sunil Kumar and two bullets were recovered from his wife Poonam and there were exit wounds in the two children which confirms that they were killed by bullets. Post-mortem findings have been submitted to the police. When the police will start the investigation.”
Political Firestorm Ignited
The gruesome killings have triggered a political uproar in the region. Leaders like Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav have taken to social media to voice their concerns.
Yogi Adityanath condemned the Amethi murder, stating, “The incident that happened in Amethi district today is highly condemnable and unforgivable. My condolences are with the bereaved family. The @UPGovt stands with the victim’s family in this hour of grief. The culprits of this incident will not be spared at any cost, and strict legal action will be taken against them.”
In response to the incident, Akhilesh Yadav shared a video on X with a poignant caption: “Koi hai? Kahin Hai?? #नहीं_चाहिए_भाजपा,” questioning the state of safety under the current government.
Congress leader and MP from Amethi, Kishori Lal Sharma, also expressed his outrage over the incident. He stated, “In Amethi’s Shivratanganj area, miscreants barged into a house and brutally shot dead Sunil Kumar, assistant teacher in a composite school, his wife, and two children. The ruthless criminals killed the entire family. Hearing about this heart-wrenching incident made the soul tremble; the entire Amethi family is as disturbed as they are angry. This mass murder is the result of the government’s ruined law and order; the criminals are fearless. The police administration should immediately arrest the criminals and give them the harshest punishment.”
