Ashram flyover: Commuters between Delhi and Noida will get a relief after the Ashram-DND Flyover, which was closed for close to two months reopens today. It was closed for construction two months back. The construction work is over and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will inaugurate the flyover for light vehicles at 5 pm today.
The flyover will allow passengers to bypass three traffic signals between Ashram Chowk and DND, making vehicular movement smoother.
Traffic police advisory
The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory on Sunday evening requesting commuters using the Barapullah flyover to take the Ashram flyover from 5 pm on Monday to travel from Delhi to Noida.
However, heavy vehicles are still not allowed on the flyover till further information. Commuters coming from Sarai Kale Khan have also been advised not to take the Ashram Flyover.
Both the carriageways of the Ashram Flyover were closed due to the construction of a connecting road between the flyover and the New Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) Flyover since January 1, 2023. Commuters had to take the Barapullah flyover to travel between Delhi and Noida.
Connects South Delhi to Noida
The flyover is 1.5-km-long and connects South Delhi to Noida in Uttar Pradesh. The Ashram Chowk is a crucial link between south and central Delhi, as well as Faridabad. It links the Mathura Road and the Ring Road (connecting Lajpat Nagar to Sarai Kale Khan as well as the DND flyover).
Vehicles coming and going from Noida and Ghaziabad to South Delhi will no longer have to grapple with congestion while travelling from the DND loop to the Ashram intersection.
