Akhilesh Yadav Alleges Major Land Scams in Ayodhya Under BJP Rule; Calls for Thorough Investigation

Ayodhya News

Ayodhya News: Following a significant defeat for the BJP in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, numerous questions have emerged. Notably, Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad secured victory in the Lok Sabha elections. Amidst this backdrop, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has made serious allegations concerning land deals in Ayodhya, citing a newspaper report. He used his social media platform, Twitter, to criticise the BJP heavily.

Akhilesh Yadav Accuses BJP of Major Wrongdoings

Citing an article from the Indian Express, Akhilesh Yadav posted on Twitter: ” As the land deals in Ayodhya are being exposed, the truth is coming out that under the BJP rule, people from outside Ayodhya have bought and sold land on a large scale to make profits. The BJP government’s decision of not increasing the circle rate for the last 7 years is an economic conspiracy against the local people. Due to this, land scams worth billions of rupees have taken place. Here, land has been bought not by the believers but by the land mafia. The people living in Ayodhya-Faizabad and the surrounding areas did not get any benefit from all this. Buying land from the poor and farmers at a throw-away price is a kind of land grabbing. We demand a thorough investigation and review of the ‘rigging’ and land deals in the name of so-called development in Ayodhya.”

Indian Express Investigation Unveils Land Deal Details

An investigation by the Indian Express, examining land registries from November 2019 (following the Supreme Court’s decision on the Ram Temple) to March 2024, revealed that land transactions in Ayodhya and surrounding districts have increased by up to 30% in at least 25 villages. This includes Gonda and Basti, within a 15-kilometer radius of the temple. Many of these transactions involve individuals closely related to politicians and government officials.

The report highlights that Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, along with his sons Chau Kham Seng Mein and Aditya Mein, purchased 3.99 hectares of land for Rs 3.72 crore between September 2022 and September 2023 in Maheshpur (Gonda), 8 kilometers from the temple. Other prominent buyers include former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Singh and his son Karan Bhushan, UP Police STF Chief Additional DGP Amitabh Yash, and his mother.
