“Today is the ‘Balidan Diwas’ of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, dreamer of United India. We all know that India became independent in 1947, and after the implementation of the constitution in 1950, the then Congress-led government attempted to cause serious damage to national integrity by adding Article 370 to the constitution,” said Adityanath.

Dr. Mukherjee, who was serving as the Minister of Industry and Supply, resigned from his post to launch a significant movement aimed at preserving the country’s integrity and removing Article 370 from Kashmir. “He left his post and started a massive movement for the prestige of the country, for the integrity of the country, to remove Article 370 from Kashmir. He had to sacrifice his life for the Kashmir Satyagraha campaign that he started with thousands of workers of Bharatiya Jana Sangh,” Adityanath noted.

The Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, under which the abrogation of Article 370 was accomplished, fulfilling Mukherjee’s long-cherished dream. “The dream of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee is coming true today under the leadership of PM Modi, by abolishing Article 370 in Kashmir,” Adityanath stated.

CM Adityanath’s remarks underscore the Bharatiya Jana Sangh’s historical opposition to Article 370 and the current administration’s efforts to integrate Jammu and Kashmir fully into India. The tribute highlighted Mukherjee’s legacy and his ultimate sacrifice for national unity and integrity.
