Intensifying the BJP’s election campaign in South Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday held massive roadshows in Puttur and Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district and Karkala in Udupi.
Yogi first reached Puttur where party candidate Asha Thimmappa Gowda is pitted against Ashok Kumar Rai of Congress and rebel Arun Kumar Puthila of BJP.
He said that BJP is taking the country on the path of progress.
Addressing the gathering from the campaign vehicle after the end of his roadshow, Yogi said that the Congress has always tried to obstruct the path of progress.
He said the Congress tried to stall the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, but the BJP successfully fought the issue in court and the temple would turn into a reality in the near future.
Yogi said that Congress is now after Bajrang Dal as it is against patriotic people and trying to demoralize those who uphold nationalist policies.
The UP Chief Minister said that the people of Karnataka should vote for ‘Team India’ to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that BJP has fielded the best candidate in Puttur and people should ensure the victory of Asha Thimmappa Gowda.
Yogi later campaigned for state Energy Minister V Sunil Kumar in Karkala in Udupi, where the BJP is also facing an unlikely rebel in the form of Sri Ram Sena chief Pramod Muthalik. The Congress has fielded former Chief Minister Veerappa Moily’s confidant Muniyalu Uday Shetty on this seat.
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh held a grand roadshow in Karkala and while addressing the gathering called for voting for the ‘double engine’ government for continuous progress.
At the last roadshow of the day at BC Road in Bantwal, Yogi was given a rousing welcome by enthusiastic party workers. BJP’s youth leader and sitting MLA Rajesh Naik is contesting against former Congress minister B Ramnath Rai in this constituency.
Addressing the rally, Yogi appealed to the people of Karnataka not to vote for the Congress and expressed his intention to ban patriotic organizations like Bajrang Dal.
He said, “The Congress has always been blocking the path of progress initiated by the BJP government under the leadership of Narendra Modi.”
In his emotional speech, Yogi asked the people of Karnataka to come to Ayodhya when the Ram temple is inaugurated in January next year. People responded positively to this.
