Shaista Parveen, the wife of dead gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, would run for mayor of Prayagraj, according to Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Umashankar Singh.
Despite the fact that Shaista Parveen is currently on the state of Uttar Pradesh’s most wanted list, the BSP MLA asserted that she has not been implicated in the murder of attorney Umesh Pal. One of the most important witnesses in the 2005 murder trial of BSP MLA Raju Pal was Umesh Pal.
“We made Shaista Parveen join the party and also wanted her to stand for the Mayoral elections in Prayagraj. Till now, neither the government nor the police has come up with any video that shows Shaista having anything to do with the incident,” the BSP Member of Legislative Assembly said, according to ANI, while interacting with reporters in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh.
On April 15, three men posing as journalists killed Atiq Ahmed. While he was on his way home from a hospital where he had been taken for the routine medical exam, his murder occurred in front of numerous cameras and media people.
