Meerut Agricultural Mela: While beautiful paintings often catch attention at art shows, a very different kind of attraction is drawing crowds at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Here, buffaloes aren’t just ordinary animals—they are valued at crores of rupees. The excitement is real, with prices ranging from ₹9 crore to an incredible ₹23 crore. Let’s explore the amazing stories behind these expensive buffaloes at the Meerut Agricultural Mela.
Meet Anmol: The ₹23 Crore Buffalo
Among the stars of the show is Anmol, a buffalo that has made headlines not just for its hefty price tag but for its owner’s deep emotional attachment to it. Owned by Sukhbir, Anmol has won multiple competitions and is a source of immense pride for him. The highest offer for Anmol has reached an astonishing ₹23 crore, but Sukhbir isn’t interested in selling. To him, Anmol truly lives up to its name, which means ‘priceless.’
Golu-2 and His ₹9 Crore Son
Another popular buffalo at the mela is Golu-2, owned by Narendra. Golu-2 is worth ₹10 crore and has been a favorite at the event for many years. This time, though, his son Vidhayak is also getting attention, with a price tag of ₹9 crore.
Narendra, who received the Padma Shri award in 2019 for his work in animal husbandry, has been improving buffalo breeds for years. He shared that Golu-2 has fathered thousands of offspring. The demand for Golu-2’s semen is high across India, earning Narendra around ₹40 lakh per year from semen sales.
Luxurious Lives of Expensive Buffaloes
These buffaloes don’t live like typical farm animals. They enjoy a luxurious lifestyle. Owners like Sukhbir and Narendra feed them a rich diet of cashews, almonds, and ghee. Their homes are air-conditioned, and they travel in air-conditioned vehicles to stay comfortable.
