Bundelkhand Expressway: As the first ‘Solar Expressway’ in Uttar Pradesh, the Bundelkhand Expressway is poised to make history. In addition to completely transforming the state’s infrastructure, this massive project will open the door for sustainable growth. A vast 1,700-hectare solar park is planned to be built alongside this 296-kilometer expressway. It is anticipated that this solar park will produce about 450 megawatts of electricity each day, which will be a major step forward for renewable energy in the area.
Uttar Pradesh’s Longest Solar Park to Power 1 Lakh Homes
The solar park on the Bundelkhand Expressway will be the longest in Uttar Pradesh, extending across 1,700 hectares of land. This massive project will be developed under the ‘Build, Own, and Operate’ (BOO) model, overseen by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA). The park’s location spans from Etawah to Chitrakoot, with an average width of 15 to 20 meters, strategically placed between the main carriageway and the service road.
With the ability to generate 450 MW of electricity, this solar park will meet the energy needs of nearly one lakh consumers. The project’s cost is estimated to exceed ₹2,500 crore, and there are provisions for companies to lease land within the park on a 25-year basis, offering a long-term investment opportunity in the region.
Environmental Protection and Industrial Growth Along the Expressway
In addition to its energy production capabilities, the Bundelkhand Expressway project emphasizes environmental sustainability. Over 25,000 saplings of native trees like peepal, pakad, banyan, gular, and neem will be planted along the expressway. These efforts are aimed at enhancing the green cover and contributing to the ecological balance in the area.
Moreover, the expressway is set to catalyze industrial development in Bundelkhand. Plans are in motion to create an industrial corridor along the expressway, especially in the Banda and Jalaun districts. This corridor will bolster economic growth and create job opportunities, further uplifting the region.
A New City on the Horizon
The Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority has revealed plans to construct a new city, like to Noida, over 36,000 acres by 2028 as part of the Bundelkhand Expressway’s larger development strategy. This new urban centre will support the region’s general economic growth by acting as a hub for residential and commercial projects.
