In response to the prevailing cold wave and harsh winter conditions, the District Magistrate has issued directives to extend the winter break for schools up to the 8th grade in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. As per the orders from the Secretary of Basic Education, schools in this category will now remain closed until January 18th, providing relief to students amidst the ongoing winter adversities.
Extended Winter Break for Schools up to 8th Grade in Meerut District
The closure includes schools affiliated with various boards, such as the Uttar Pradesh Board (UP Board), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and others, up to the 5th grade. However, it’s noteworthy that teachers are still required to attend school during this period.
The decision comes in light of the ongoing impact of cold and chill in the Meerut district. Previously, directives were given to keep schools up to the 5th grade closed until January 20th. The recent announcement of an extended break for schools up to the 8th grade aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students during this challenging weather period. The academic activities for these schools are expected to resume on January 18th, post the extended winter break. Additionally, January 17th will observe a holiday in commemoration of Guru Govind Singh Jayanti.
