The gang targeted individuals on dating platforms like Tinder, Bumble, and Truly Madly. After building online connections, female members would meet victims in person, secretly recording compromising videos. These videos then became weapons of blackmail, forcing victims to pay hefty sums to avoid their exposure.
Doctor’s Complaint Cracks the Case Open
One such victim, a doctor, finally reached out to the Indirapuram police station after enduring escalating demands. This complaint triggered an investigation that led to the arrest of three gang members – a woman and two men – from Vasundhara Colony.
More Suspects at Large, Investigation Ongoing
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Trans Hindon), Nimish Patil, the gang had amassed over Rs 1 crore through their devious scheme. While three arrests have been made, two more members remain at large. The police are actively investigating to apprehend the remaining suspects and uncover the full extent of their operations.
