In UP’s Ghaziabad, the police registered an FIR on Monday in connection with the collapse of the lenter of an under-construction building in Rupnagar industrial area of Loni on Sunday. The Ghaziabad Police has registered a case under sections 304, 337 and 338 of the Indian Penal Code. Officials said that a case was registered on Monday against the owner of the plot, Madan Lal Sharma, Akash Sharma, a resident of Rajnagar Colony, and one of their unknown accomplices. He said that Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) executive engineer Manvendra Singh has lodged a complaint with the police, stating that the building was being constructed without getting the map approved and safety guidelines were violated.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Loni) Rajneesh Upadhyay said on Monday that the owner of the plot, Madan Lal Sharma, suffered a head injury due to the collapse of the lenter of the under-construction building and he has been admitted to a private hospital in Ghaziabad for treatment. The GDA has also initiated action against the guilty officers posted in Loni area. Supervisor Phoolchand has been suspended with immediate effect. At the same time, a letter has been written to the government for suspension and legal action against Assistant Engineer Pradeep Kumar Singh and Junior Engineer Chandra Prakash Sharma.
2 were killed, 11 injured
District Magistrate and GDA Vice President R.K. Singh said that the Authority has issued a show cause notice to Executive Engineer Singh for negligence in the supervision work and he has been asked how the illegal construction was going on without passing the map. It is worth mentioning that two persons including a contractor died and 11 people were injured in this accident. The deceased have been identified as Sameer Ahmed (40) and Rajesh (30).
