Ghaziabad News: A teenaged boy Uttar Pradesh, who hid a dog bite from his parents for more than a month out of fear of being scolded, died from rabies.
Shahvaz, 14, passed away on Monday night as he was being taken back to Ghaziabad from Bulandshahr, where he had been hospitalised for care when his condition worsened.
The deceased, an eighth-grade kid who lived in the Charan Singh colony neighbourhood near the Vijay Nagar police station, passed away.
He was allegedly bitten by his neighbor’s dog 1.5 months ago, but he kept it a secret from his parents out of fear, according to the police.
“He contracted rabies and started behaving abnormally and stopped eating on September 1. On being asked, he told his family members that he had been bitten by their neighbour’s dog,” police said.
Shahvaz’s family brought him to one of Delhi’s public hospitals, but he was not given a place to be treated there. The family told the police that they finally took him to an Ayurvedic doctor in Bulandshahr for treatment.
While being taken in an ambulance back to Ghaziabad, the boy passed away. Nimish Patil, assistant commissioner of police for the Kotwali zone, said that the dog owner will be subject to punishment after a complaint was made about the incident.
