Ghaziabad News: The long-awaited Harnandipuram Township project has a land acquisition process underway, thanks to the efforts of the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). This township, which encompasses eight towns, is expected to grow into a major development close to the Hindon River. Nonetheless, GDA intends to implement Section 11 of the Land Acquisition Act, 2013, to limit the sale of land in these areas, in an effort to safeguard the interests of nearby farmers.
GDA to Enforce Section 11 to Protect Farmers
In recent years, there has been a concerning trend in Ghaziabad where outsiders, seeing the potential of new projects, buy large tracts of land at lower rates, only to resell them at inflated prices. This practice often puts farmers at a disadvantage, as they end up selling their ancestral lands for lower returns. To curb this issue, GDA has decided to implement Section 11 in all eight villages included in the Harnandipuram Township plan. This move aims to prevent non-locals from purchasing land and reselling it at higher rates, safeguarding the interests of local farmers.
The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is keeping a close watch on the situation. According to GDA Secretary Rajesh Singh, the authority is actively working to ensure that farmers are not taken advantage of. A notification about the enforcement of Section 11 is expected within a month, which will restrict the purchase and sale of plots in these areas. However, farmers can continue to exchange land among themselves without any hindrance.
Land Acquisition in Eight Villages
The Harnandipuram Township will cover a vast area of 541.1 hectares, spanning eight villages. The largest portion of land, 247.8 hectares, will be acquired from Nangla Feroj Mohanpur, followed by 123.97 hectares from Shamsher village. Other villages from which land will be acquired include:
- Champat Nagar: 39.2 hectares
- Shahpur Nij Morta: 54.2 hectares
- Bhadi Khurd: 11.8 hectares
- Mathurapur: 8.7 hectares
- Bhaupura and Morta: 2.6 hectares each
The Ghaziabad Development Authority has already approved the township’s map and has begun surveying the designated plots. This process, aimed at urban expansion, will bring much-needed infrastructure and development to the region.
Farmers to Benefit from GDA’s Move
By enforcing Section 11 in the acquisition process, the GDA is not only ensuring the smooth development of the Harnandipuram Township but also making sure that farmers, who are the original landowners, are not exploited. This proactive measure will prevent outsiders from making large-scale land purchases for profit, protecting local farmers from financial loss.
In the coming months, the Ghaziabad Development Authority will release more updates on the progress of this project. With a careful balance between urban development and protecting farmer interests, this initiative aims to be a positive step forward for the city of Ghaziabad.
