Ghaziabad News: A 20-year-old Hindu man was allegedly assaulted while riding a bike alongside a Muslim woman on Wednesday near Hapur Chungi, according to the police. They noted that while efforts are being made to find and arrest more suspects, one suspect, identified as Rahis Ahmadan, has already been arrested.
Rajat Kumar, the victim’s name, and the woman are coworkers who both work at a multi-specialty hospital in Raj Nagar Extension, according to the police. They stated that the woman resides in the area that is within the jurisdiction of Kavi Nagar police station.
In his complaint to the Kavi Nagar police station, Kumar claimed that while travelling from Raj Nagar Extension, he stopped at a petrol station to recharge his tank.
According to Kumar’s allegation, several bike-riding guys began following him from that point on and eventually stopped him about 500 metres from the Kavi Nagar police station, near the Hapur Chungi intersection.
“During our investigation, it was discovered that the suspects knew the man and woman. Upon seeing them together, they objected to the woman on why she was roaming with him. We have arrested one suspect from the spot while a search is on for others,” said Abhishek Srivastava, ACP (Kavi Nagar).
At the Kavi Nagar police station, a FIR was filed under sections 147 (rioting), 341 (wrongful confinement), and 323 (voluntarily causing harm), according to the police.
“As per our investigation, there were about 4-5 men and they will be arrested soon,” said Nipun Agarwal, DCP (city).
