The collaboration between the Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is set to bring forth a new link plan, with a primary focus on connecting Namo Bharat Station on Tihare Road and DMRC’s Shaheed Sthal Metro. The proposed solution involves the construction of a skywalk at the Meerut Road intersection. In a recent meeting between RRTS and DMRC, detailed discussions on the design and layout of the skywalk have taken place. The initiation of design and layout work is imminent, with the aim to complete the skywalk before the commencement of RRTS’s second phase, enhancing connectivity and convenience for commuters.
Advancements in RRTS’s Second Phase and Connectivity Integration
As the second phase of the Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) progresses, high-speed trains are expected to operate from New Ashok Nagar to Partapur in Meerut. To seamlessly integrate this 17-kilometer route with Delhi Metro, plans are underway to establish connectivity at the Meerut Road intersection in Ghaziabad. The vision includes connecting Namo Bharat Station, situated at the Meerut Road intersection, with DMRC’s Shaheed Sthal metro station through a dedicated skywalk. This initiative is poised to be a significant milestone, creating the first high-speed station in Ghaziabad that will be interconnected with the metro network, providing direct benefits to passengers of both RRTS and DMRC.
Enhanced Passenger Convenience and Commuter Benefits
The collaborative efforts of RRTS and DMRC in implementing the skywalk at Meerut Road intersection aim to bring about enhanced connectivity and convenience for passengers. Once operational, the skywalk will facilitate seamless transitions between Namo Bharat Station and Shaheed Sthal Metro, creating a more integrated and commuter-friendly transportation network. This strategic collaboration underscores the commitment to advancing public transportation infrastructure and improving the overall travel experience for residents in the region.
