Global Investors Summit: Cabinet on Wednesday approved three new policies for the tourism, information technology, and solar energy sectors while offering many incentives to attract investment and increase employment ahead of the Global Investors Summit in February 2023.
The government also made the decision to build Ramayan, Krishna, Mahabharat, Sufi-Kabir, Shakti Peeth, and Jain Circuits in order to explore the potential for spiritual and religious tourism in the state. By implementing a new strategy, the government would also promote “crafts tourism” and eco-tourism.
Know what the new policies are all about:
Speaking about the new tourism strategy, Cabinet Minister AK Sharma said that the Krishna Circuit would encompass destinations like Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul, Govardhan, Barsana, Nandgaon, and Baldev in addition to cities associated with the Ramayana such as Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, and Bithoor. Cities like Kapil Vastu, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Kaushambi, Shravasti, and Ramgram that are connected to the life of the Buddha will be created for the Buddhist Circuit along similar lines.

The state government also intends to create the Mahabharata Circuit, which will concentrate on cities like Hastinapur, Kampilya, Barnawa, Mathura, Kaushambi, Gonda, and Lakshagriha, according to Sharma. This circuit will be in addition to the Ramayana Circuit.
Due to the existence of several shakti peeths, Uttar Pradesh attracts tourists every year. The state government intends to create a Shaktipeeth circuit as well, which would comprise well-known temples spread throughout eastern and western Uttar Pradesh, including Vindhyavasini Temple, Devipatan, Naimisharanya, Lalita Devi Temple, Jwala Devi, and Sheetla Devi Temple.
A Sufi-Kabir Circuit that will connect Maghar in Sant Kabir Nagar, Lahartara in Varanasi, which is sometimes referred to as Kabir’s “karmabhoomi,” and Amethi is also included in the new tourism policy. In a similar vein, the Jain Circuit would emphasise sights like Hastinapur’s Deogarh and Ramnagar’s Digambar Jain Temple.
Districts connected to handcrafted crafts would be included in the Crafts Circuit. Additionally, the government would strive to create a tourism route that would emphasise cities with ties to the liberation movement.
The state’s lesser-known locations will be promoted as a result of the new tourist strategy. It would provide facilities including dormitories, all-weather seasonal camps, heritage hotels, home stays, eco-tourism units, caravan tourism units, budget hotels, and creating reservoir lakes as part of its efforts.
