Greater Noida News: As the Lok Sabha election campaigns heat up in the Gautam Buddha Nagar constituency, several housing societies in Noida and Greater Noida are adorned with striking red banners bearing the slogan “No Registry-No Vote”. These banners serve as a visible protest against the unresolved issue of registration of flats in numerous stalled real estate projects across the region.

The term “registry” refers to the registration of flats in these projects, which have been stalled for various reasons, leaving homebuyers in limbo. Despite the approval of a report by a committee chaired by former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant in December 2023 to address these issues, the relief provided to homebuyers has fallen short of expectations.
Frustrated residents have put up these posters primarily targeting politicians
Frustrated residents have put up these posters primarily targeting politicians, particularly from the BJP, who visit these societies for election campaigning. The banners serve as a stark reminder that the promises made regarding the resolution of builder-buyer disputes remain unfulfilled.
According to data obtained from the Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna authorities, only a fraction of the approximately 1.15 lakh stalled flats awaiting registry under the Kant relief package have been registered so far. Specifically, out of this staggering number, only around 3,350 flats have successfully completed the registration process, highlighting the magnitude of the issue and the dissatisfaction among affected homebuyers.
