Hathras Tragedy: The initial investigation report on the stampede at Bhole Baba’s satsang in Hathras has revealed that negligence and mismanagement were the primary causes of the chaos. The report indicates that officials failed to assess the situation accurately. Statements from 90 people, including key district officials, have been recorded, with evidence pointing towards the organizers’ culpability.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by Agra Zone Additional Police Director General Anupam Kulshreshtha, is probing the Hathras stampede incident. The three-member SIT’s detailed investigation is ongoing, and a report will be submitted to the government.
Possibility of Conspiracy Not Ruled Out SIT chief Anupam Kulshreshtha told PTI news agency that the crowd at the satsang exceeded expectations, with many new devotees in attendance. As the crowd surged forward to see Baba, the situation became uncontrollable. The stampede was due to negligence and mismanagement. The organizing committee had assured proper security arrangements while obtaining permission for the event.
Kulshreshtha added that the possibility of a conspiracy cannot be ruled out, and legal action will be taken against those found guilty.
Statements Taken from DM and SP The report includes statements from Hathras District Magistrate Ashish Kumar, SP Nipun Agarwal, and senior health department officials who managed the emergency situation during the stampede. An FIR was filed on July 2 under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 126 (2) (wrongful restraint), 223 (disobedience of a lawful order by a public servant).
