Kanwar Yatra 2024: UP Government Prepares for Upcoming Kanwar Yatra

This annual pilgrimage, which sees devotees carrying sacred water from the Ganges to offer at Shiva temples, requires meticulous planning to ensure the safety and convenience of all participants.

Kanwar Yatra 2024— With the holy month of Shravan set to commence on July 22, the Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is making extensive preparations for the Kanwar Yatra. This annual pilgrimage, which sees devotees carrying sacred water from the Ganges to offer at Shiva temples, requires meticulous planning to ensure the safety and convenience of all participants.

Infrastructure and Safety Measures

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed authorities to repair and reinforce any dilapidated electric poles and hanging wires along the pilgrimage routes. This is to prevent any potential accidents and ensure that devotees face no disruptions during their journey. “Ensure that there are no issues or accidents due to infrastructure problems,” emphasized the Chief Minister.

Cultural and Noise Regulations

The Chief Minister has also stressed maintaining the traditional aspects of the Kanwar Yatra, which include dance, songs, and music. He has ordered that the sound levels of DJs, songs, and other music comply with prescribed standards to avoid noise pollution. “Ensure that traditional dance, songs, and music remain a part of the Kanwar Yatra, and that noise levels are within set limits,” he stated.

Respecting Devotees’ Sentiments

In a bid to respect the sentiments of the pilgrims, the Chief Minister has instructed that there should be no open sale of meat along the yatra routes. This measure aims to uphold the sanctity of the pilgrimage and honor the religious beliefs of the devotees.

Cleanliness and Facilities

Maintaining hygiene is a top priority. The CM has directed the concerned authorities to ensure proper cleanliness, sanitation, and adequate street lighting along the yatra routes. “Make sure that cleanliness, sanitization, and proper street lighting are well-maintained on the pilgrimage routes,” said Adityanath.

Crowd Management and Security

To handle the large influx of pilgrims, the yatra routes will be marked clearly with effective crowd management systems in place. This includes route diversions, deployment of police personnel, and installation of CCTV cameras to monitor the event. “Ensure crowd management, route diversions, police deployment, and CCTV arrangements are made in time,” instructed the Chief Minister.
