Lucknow News: In response to the ongoing severe cold weather conditions, the District Magistrate of Lucknow has announced an extension of the closure of schools for students up to class 8. Initially slated for closure on January 17 and 18, the extension now stretches until January 20. The decision is aimed at ensuring the safety of students who would otherwise be exposed to the chilling temperatures in the state capital region.
Guidelines for Continued Education Amid Cold Wave
The state government has provided guidelines for the operation of classes during this extended closure. Schools are instructed to prioritize students’ safety by employing heaters to maintain comfortable temperatures in classrooms. Additionally, the directive emphasizes that classes should be conducted within the confines of the classroom, and students are encouraged to wear warm clothing. While classes for students in grades 9 to 12 will continue from 10 am to 3 pm, the extension of the closure is specific to students, and teachers along with other staff members are expected to adhere to their regular attendance schedules.
Balancing Education and Well-being
Recognizing the challenges posed by the extreme weather, schools have been advised to consider conducting online classes if feasible. This strategic approach aims to strike a balance between ensuring educational continuity and safeguarding the well-being of students during the persistent cold wave. The extended closure underscores the authorities’ commitment to providing a conducive and safe learning environment for students in Lucknow.
