Lucknow News: A departmental inquiry has started against Lucknow’s former SSP Manzil Saini, who was found guilty of negligence in the famous Shravan Sahu murder case. The CBI had recommended departmental proceedings in the beginning of the year 2022 against Manzil and the then DM of Lucknow, GS Priyadarshi, after being found guilty in its investigation.
In the investigation started on the orders of the government, ADG Intelligence Bhagwan Swaroop has been made the investigating officer and IPS Sanjeev Tyagi has been made the presentation officer. Manzil Saini is currently posted as DIG in NSG on central deputation.
CBI investigation was done on the orders of the court
On the orders of the court, the investigation of this murder was done by the CBI. The CBI had also interrogated the then SSP Manzil Saini at length on August 11, 2017. The CBI had also found Manzil Saini guilty of negligence in providing security to Shravan Sahu and recommended departmental action against him.
In the course of the departmental inquiry being conducted against Manzil Saini, the investigating officer ADG Intelligence Bhagwan Swaroop called him to record his statement on Sunday. SP Intelligence Sanjeev Tyagi has been named Presenting Officer in the departmental enquiry.
It is believed that Manzil Saini’s difficulties may increase in the coming days. Due to departmental proceedings, he could not be empaneled for the post of IG in the Centre.
