Lucknow News: The Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station is set to undergo a significant transformation to address its platform length limitations. Currently, all platforms except platform number one are shorter in length, resulting in trains running below their full capacity in terms of bogies. To mitigate this issue and offer more confirmed tickets to passengers, the platform lengths are set to be extended to 600 meters.
Platform Length Expansion at Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station to Enhance Train Capacity
The Charbagh railway station, part of the Northern Railway Lucknow division, has a total of nine platforms. Due to their shorter lengths, trains that can typically accommodate 20 bogies have been operating with only 14 to 16 bogies. The Northern Railway administration has devised a blueprint to extend platform lengths, and this project will also include the construction of passenger sheds and drinking water facilities. The estimated cost of this endeavor is around Rs 30 crore, and the work is expected to commence after the Diwali festival, with completion anticipated within three to four months.
The platform length expansion project aims to provide greater convenience for trains arriving and departing from Charbagh. By allowing more bogies on the trains, the initiative seeks to offer confirmed tickets to passengers, thus addressing the issue of limited seating availability. Approximately 60 trains operate to and from Charbagh, many of which can benefit from an increase in the number of bogies.
