Lucknow News: Student Federation of India Protests Against Communalism and Advocates for Secularism

Lucknow News: The Student Federation of India (SFI) division at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow, organized a protest against the increasing prevalence of communalism within the country. The event took place on Saturday and aimed to address the rise in incidents of violence and prejudice against students within schools in Uttar Pradesh, shedding light on this concerning trend within society.

Abdul Wahab, the Secretary of SFI BBAU, discussed recent occurrences across the nation that exemplified communal tensions. He stressed the importance of standing in solidarity with those who are oppressed. He emphasized that the silence of the general public can inadvertently lend support to the actions of those who oppress others.

Anand, another member, underscored the significance of revisiting the Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb (cultural syncretism) that is inherent to our nation’s heritage.

Harsha highlighted the evolving landscape of political discourse in the country and how communal inclinations are contributing to the propagation of animosity.

Nandana, President of SFI BBAU, further emphasized the necessity of taking a stance and advocating for the marginalized, thereby putting an end to divisive and hateful politics.

Abhishek shed light on how the state machinery has often remained passive observers, failing to take action against such incidents and effectively endorsing them through their silence.

The gathering concluded with SFI members raising slogans against communalism, hatred, discrimination, caste-based biases, violence, while also expressing their support for secularism and upholding the principles enshrined in the Constitution of India.
