Meerut News: By the end of this month, the government’s much-anticipated Namo Bharat train, which is a part of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) plan, is scheduled to begin service in Meerut South. The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) conducted a thorough four-phase survey, and the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has been granted the required certificate to proceed.
Enhanced Passenger Facilities with Namo Bharat
The Namo Bharat train currently operates along a 34-kilometer route across the Ghaziabad district, stopping at eight stations: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, and Modinagar North. The expansion to Meerut South would benefit travellers with better facilities and increased connectivity.
To maintain smooth operations, minor flaws found in the CRS survey are being resolved quickly. Plans are in place to continue the service’s extension from Sahibabad to Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi after this phase. Significant progress has been made in this section; over 50% of the track laying and 100% of the civil work have been completed. Station electrification and finishing touches are moving quickly in order to assist passengers travelling to Delhi by March 2025.
Preparations for Meerut South Station Completion
Officials from the NCRTC have affirmed that all preparations for the expansion have been completed, including the acquisition of all required safety certificates and the completion of successful trial runs. The ground, concourse, platform, and flooring work at the Meerut South Station (Bhudbaral) are almost completed. The technical rooms are set up and work is well underway to install the equipment and prefabricated station roof.
The three-story new station will greatly improve connectivity for locals by providing easy access to parking spaces close to entry and exit gates and service lanes surrounding the station area. Transportation choices will be considerably improved with the addition of metro rail operations from Partapur.
Full Corridor Operation by June 2025
The ultimate objective is to run the Namo Bharat train along the whole corridor by June 2025, providing passengers travelling inside the region with a quick and dependable mode of transportation. This journey will reach a major milestone with the planned launch to Meerut South, which promises improved amenities and more seamless travel for everyone.
