The PM Kusum Yojana C-1, initiated by the Central Government, offers farmers the opportunity to not only enhance their irrigation capabilities but also generate electricity from solar plants for sale. Under this scheme, traditional electricity or diesel-driven irrigation pumps can be converted to run on solar energy. Farmers can first use the solar-generated electricity for irrigation and then sell any surplus power to electricity distribution companies, enabling them to earn income over several years. The scheme not only curbs expenses related to diesel and electricity but also contributes to reducing pollution.

Sharma emphasized the long-term benefits of solar panels, which have a lifespan of 25 years and require straightforward maintenance. Besides the PM Kusum Scheme C-1, the department has also completed the installation of 339 solar lights in 33 villages. Among these, 200 lights are part of the Babu Kalyan Singh Gramin Unnat Yojana, while 139 lights are provided under the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Rural Market Scheme.
