Nepal: From November 17 to 20, the border between Uttar Pradesh and Nepal will be closed due to the general elections in the neighbouring Himalayan country.
In this regard, sources claim that a high-level coordination conference between officials from the two nations took place in Banke district of Nepal.
At the meeting were administrative representatives from the border areas between India and Nepal.
Dr. Dinesh Chandra, District Magistrate of Bahraich, stated that the administration was dedicated to offering all assistance necessary to guarantee free and peaceful elections in Nepal.

Official statement regarding the step
An official spokesperson said, “The Nepal government had decided to close borders with India from November 17 to 20. Movement would be prohibited during the period. Nepal has appealed to the administrative officials of Bahraich and Shrawasti districts for their cooperation during the closure period. The authorities also discussed how to curb smuggling of narcotics, wildlife and human trafficking through the border.”

District Magistrate Shrawasti Neha Prakash also pledged to provide the officials stationed at the border with all necessary help.
The Maharajganj district’s Sunauli border will also continue to be closed.
