Noida has secured the 14th position as the cleanest city in India in the Swachh Survekshan 2023, an annual cleanliness survey conducted by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in collaboration with the Quality Council of India under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U). The survey results were announced on Thursday.
Impressive Climb to Second Place Among Cities with 300,000+ Population
Among the 342 cities with a population of 300,000 or more, Noida achieved an outstanding second position in the Swachh rankings for the year. This marks a significant improvement from the previous year when the city secured the fifth position in this category. Notably, Noida was ranked fourth in 2021, 25th in 2020, 150th in 2019, and 324th in 2018.
Noida excelled in the survey’s “Garbage Free Cities (GFC)” parameter, earning a prestigious five-star rating. This achievement follows a similar recognition in 2022, where the city also received five stars in the GFC category. In 2020, Noida secured a three-star rating in the same category. Notably, seven stars represent the highest rating achievable, indicating the city’s commitment to effective waste management practices.
Noida Breaks Ground as First UP City with Five-Star Water-Plus Certification
Noida achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first city in Uttar Pradesh to receive the five-star water-plus certification, the highest possible ranking, in the parameter of treating wastewater. This recognition underscores the city’s pioneering efforts in wastewater management, setting a benchmark for environmental sustainability in the region.
