During Diwali celebrations on Sunday night, Greater Noida witnessed two hit-and-run incidents resulting in injuries to four individuals. Videos capturing both incidents have circulated widely on social media, sparking concerns about road safety during festive times.
First Incident: Sector-119 Residential Society
The initial incident occurred around 11 pm outside a residential society in Sector-119. A speeding Maruti Swift car collided with three individuals, including an eight-year-old girl, who were partaking in the festive celebrations.
Victim’s Account
Kamesh Khatana, the father of the injured girl, shared details of the incident, stating that his daughter, a friend, and his friend’s father-in-law were struck by a red Swift car traveling at approximately 100 kmph. The victims were promptly admitted to the ICU at Kailash Hospital in Noida, with their conditions deemed critical.
Police Response
Upon receiving information about the hit-and-run, the police acted swiftly. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Shakti Mohan Avasthy reported that the three injured individuals were promptly transported to Kailash Hospital, where they are currently in stable condition. An FIR has been filed, and four police teams have been mobilized to apprehend the responsible party.

The incident prompted a strong response on social media, with Khatana expressing frustration over the lack of communication from authorities. The community is calling for increased vigilance and safety measures, particularly during festive periods, emphasizing the need for proactive law enforcement.
Police Assurance and Investigation
In a video statement, Avasthy reassured the public that the police are actively investigating the case. He urged the community to cooperate and provide any information that could aid in the swift apprehension of the accused. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety awareness and stringent measures to prevent such occurrences, especially during festive celebrations.
