Noida News: Noida is grappling with extreme heat and a severe heatwave, significantly impacting residents’ lives. The scorching sun starts blazing early in the morning and continues until late at night. By Tuesday morning, temperatures had already begun soaring, and the situation is expected to persist. Thousands are falling ill due to the intense heat, with around 2,000 patients visiting the district hospital’s outpatient department daily. The temperature on Tuesday is anticipated to remain between 46 to 47 degrees Celsius until late evening. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the heatwave will persist until May 31.
Heatwave Poses Serious Health Risks
Over the past three days, the outpatient department has seen a consistent influx of around 2,000 patients daily, causing overcrowding in the district hospital. A doctor at the hospital highlighted that heatwaves pose significant health risks, impacting cardiovascular and immune functions. Prolonged exposure to extreme heat can increase inflammation, damaging immune cells like Interleukin 1 (IL1), macrophages, and B lymphocytes. This inflammation, combined with heat-induced oxidative stress, can lead to cardiovascular diseases and potentially even death.
Prevent Dehydration and Heat-Related Illnesses
The heatwave can lead to several other health issues, such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke, caused by prolonged exposure to high temperatures. Symptoms of heat exhaustion include excessive sweating and weakness, while heatstroke can cause confusion, fainting, and even organ damage. To protect your health during a heatwave, it’s crucial to stay hydrated, remain in cool places, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, as these measures can mitigate the adverse effects on health.
