Noida News : Noida’s Air Quality Deteriorates to ‘Hazardous’ Levels, Delhi’s ‘Very Poor’ AQI Persists

Noida News: For the sixth consecutive day, the air quality in the national capital remained in the ‘very poor’ category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 343, according to data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR). The more concerning issue was the air quality in the neighboring city of Noida, where the AQI reached 384, placing it in the ‘very poor’ category. Particularly alarming was Noida’s midday AQI of 695, marking it as ‘hazardous’ for the first time. This concerning situation has raised worries among local residents, who are exposed to the most polluted air in the country.

Understanding the Importance of Air Quality

Air quality plays a crucial role in people’s daily lives, impacting the way they live and breathe. Similar to weather conditions, air quality can change from day to day, and even hour to hour. Efforts have been made by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and local air quality agencies to make outdoor air quality as accessible and comprehensible as weather forecasts. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is a vital tool in this endeavor, offering easy-to-understand information about local air quality, its effects on health, and measures to protect one’s well-being.

How the AQI Operates

The Air Quality Index (AQI) measures air quality on a scale ranging from 0 to 500. A higher AQI value signifies worse air pollution and a higher health risk. For instance, an AQI of 50 or lower indicates ‘excellent air quality,’ while an AQI exceeding 300 is considered ‘hazardous air quality.’
