Noida News: Yogi Cabinet Green Lights New Metro Route, Commuters in These Localities to Benefit

UP Government Approves 11.56 km Metro Route from Sector-142 to Botanical Garden, Boosting Connectivity for Noida and Greater Noida Residents

Noida News

Noida News: The Yogi Adityanath cabinet approved a new metro route that would improve connectivity for residents, which is a huge milestone for Noida. This planned line will connect the Blue and Magenta Line intersection at Botanical Garden with Sector-142 on the Aqua Line. This elevated route, which will be 11.56 kilometres long and have eight stops along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, is expected to increase commuter convenience.

Detailed Project Report Approved and Awaiting Central Approval

Following board approval in December, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) was sent to the government of Uttar Pradesh. The DPR will now proceed to the central government for the ultimate approval after receiving the state cabinet’s assent. NMRC representatives hope to take the implementation process one step further by bringing the cabinet note to the board for discussion in the following two days.

Key Features and Benefits of the New Metro Route

With a projected cost of around ₹2254 crore, the proposed metro route seeks to offer smooth connection between Noida and Delhi to Greater Noida. Since it will reduce travel times and provide direct access to important hubs like the Indira Gandhi International Airport and train terminals, this project is anticipated to have a large positive impact on everyday travellers.

At the moment, travellers on the Blue or Magenta Line from Delhi must change to the Aqua Line between the Sector-52 and Sector-51 stations by foot or by using an e-rickshaw. By linking Sector-142 on the Aqua Line directly to Botanical Garden, which now serves the Blue and Magenta lines, the proposed route will close this gap. For many commuters, this expansion will make travelling easier by removing the need for transfers and cutting down on total journey time.

Detailed Station Plan and Construction Features

The eight new metro stations along this route will be:

  1. Sector-38A Botanical Garden
  2. Sector-44-F Block, in front of the park
  3. Sector-96-Noida Authority Office
  4. Sector-97, near Unitech Building
  5. Sector-105, near Hajipur underpass
  6. Sector-108, near JP Flyover (Sector-82 Flyover)
  7. Sector-93, between Parsvnath Prestige and Eldeco Society
  8. Sector-91, in front of Panchsheel Inter College

In order to provide simple access, Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) will be built connecting nearby sectors to the metro stations. In order to accommodate future demand, each station will have a minimum of two FOBs and large surface parking areas planned.

Funding and Cost Distribution

A cooperative finance model will be used for the project, with the central government contributing 20% of the project’s cost and the state government contributing another 20%. The Greater Noida Authority and the Noida Authority will split the remaining sixty percent. The estimated cost of each station is around ₹20 crore.

Status of the Greater Noida West Metro Project

The Greater Noida West Metro Project has not moved forward recently, despite the advancement of this new line. The project has delayed despite an initial tender and subsequent submission to the central government. At an additional cost of 794 crore, NMRC submitted a revised DPR for a new route that would add two new stations and increase the length by 2.48 km. The new route will reach from Sector-51 on the Aqua Line to near Sector-61 on the Blue Line.
