President Draupadi Murmu posthumously awarded Padma Vibhushan to former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Mulayam Singh Yadav ‘Netaji’. His son and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav came to receive this award. During this, many other family members including his wife Dimple Yadav were also present with him. Mulayam Singh Yadav had passed away in October last year after a prolonged illness. Along with this, President Draupadi Murmu has awarded Padma awards to many other personalities.
The Padma Awards were announced on the eve of Republic Day. The name of late Mulayam Singh Yadav was also included in them. After this the SP leaders had demanded that Mulayam Singh Yadav should get the Bharat Ratna award.
Akhilesh Yadav arrived with family
SP President Akhilesh Yadav received the Padma Vibhushan award on behalf of his father at the hands of President Draupadi Murmu at the investiture ceremony held at the Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan. During this his wife Dimple Yadav was also present. Both reached Delhi on Wednesday afternoon. Netaji Mulayam Singh Yadav died on October 10 last year at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.

Actually, every year the Padma Awards are announced on the eve of Republic Day. This year, it was announced to give Padma Vibhushan to late leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Karnataka SM Krishna. Manipur BJP President Thounaojam Chouba Singh and late leader of Tripura Narendra Chandra Debbarma were announced to be honored with Padma Shri. Padma Awards ie Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri – are among the highest civilian awards of the country. These awards were established in the year 1954.
