Famous Pakhawaj player Dinesh Prasad Mishra died while playing the instrument during a live performance in the capital Lucknow. While playing the instrument, he suddenly got a heart attack and fell on the stage. In a hurry, the organizer Larry took him to Cardiology, where the doctors declared him dead. So on the other hand, due to the departure of this famous artist, artists across the state including Lucknow are in despair.
Pandit Dinesh Prasad Mishra was playing Safed Baradari Pakhawaj at Mahindra Sanatka Festival organized in Lucknow on Monday, February 06 at around 3 pm. During the live performance of about 15 to 20 minutes, his health deteriorated and he fell on the stage. After which the organizers hurriedly took him to King George Medical University, where doctors declared him dead. Dinesh Prasad Mishra, 68, was originally from Mathura district and lived in Rajajipuram here.
Program director Madhavi Kukreja told that Dinesh Prasad Mishra had arrived on Monday to participate in the Santakda Vadya program. He was looking absolutely fine and he also did riyaz of Pakhawaj here for about one and a half hours. He had light tea and breakfast. After this, as soon as the program started, after playing Pakhawaj for some time, he started feeling breathless and had a heart attack. After which he was admitted to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead after examination.
While giving information to the media, Madhavi Kukreja said that the last rites of Dinesh Prasad Mishra will be performed today at the cremation ground in Alambagh by the family members with complete rituals. Dinesh Prasad has been counted among the famous selected artists playing Pakhawaj. No one knew that the artist whose performance they were listening to would leave the world like this.
Who was Dinesh Prasad Mishra
Pakhawaj maestro Dinesh Prasad was born on 1 June 1956 in Mathura. His father Pt. Babu Lal was a Pakhawaj player from Mathura. He learned Pakhawaj playing from his father and self. Received from Kudau Singh Gharana. He has three daughters, a son and wife Kamlesh. Two daughters are married.

Dinesh Prasad Mishra taught music at the Sangeet Natak Akademi from 1989 to 2014, where he was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award 2005. He used to perform regularly on many radio channels including Doordarshan. He used to perform annually in Lucknow and Jhansi festivals too. The name of Dinesh Prasad Mishra was one of the famous artists of Uttar Pradesh who played selected Pakhawaj.
