Passport News: The Ghaziabad Regional Passport Office has issued a significant update stating that, due to technological issues, passport-related services at the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in Aligarh will be suspended till June 28, 2024. This announcement was shared on X, by the official handle of Ghaziabad RPO.
Temporary Closure Due to Technical Issues
The suspension of services is necessary to address technical problems that have arisen at the Aligarh Post Office Passport Seva Kendra. The Ghaziabad Regional Passport Office has assured that applicants with scheduled appointments up to June 28, 2024, will be notified via SMS and are encouraged to reschedule their appointments at a later date that suits them. The office extends its apologies for any inconvenience caused and offers additional assistance through their contact email: contact.rpogzb@mea.gov.in.
Record-Breaking Passport Issuance
In fiscal year 2023–2024, the Ghaziabad Regional Passport Office reported issuing a record number of passports. The number of passports granted thus far is an astounding 3 lakh 19 thousand, as opposed to the 2 lakh 41 thousand that were issued in 2022. To expedite the process and tackle pending cases, the office has introduced a walk-in facility, significantly benefiting applicants.
