A big incident of negligence is coming out from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. In a hospital here, a dengue patient was allegedly given Mausambi juice instead of platelets. This resulted in the death of the patient. After which the hospital was sealed on Thursday.
After the video of the incident was circulated on social media, the district administration swung into action on the tweet and orders of Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak and sealed the hospital where the patient was allegedly offered Mausambi juice.
The patient was admitted to another hospital
Officials said that after the condition of the patient Pradeep Pandey deteriorated, he was admitted to another hospital in the city, where he died. However, no FIR has been registered with the local police station in connection with the incident. The owner of the private hospital claimed that the platelets were brought from another medical center and the patient started having problems after three units of platelets were transfused.
Chief Minister tweeted
Deputy Chief Minister Pathak tweeted, “Taking cognizance of the viral video of the Global Hospital, Jhalwa in Prayagraj, offering Mausambi juice instead of platelets to a dengue patient, the hospital has been sealed immediately as ordered by me. And sent the platelets packet for examination.”
However Sanjay Khatri, the District Magistrate of Prayagraj, on Wednesday said they had found that the patient had been given a packet of “poorly preserved” platelets.
“We had formed a three-member team to probe the incident. Their report found that the patient had been given poorly preserved platelets. We are taking action based on this information,” Mr Khatri said.
